THIS IS A COMBINATION CLASS

The Heartsaver® CPR/AED/First Aid Combination class is designed to enable you to effectively provide both first aid and quality CPR in case of an emergency. This class is for people with little or no medical training who are required to obtain both certifications as a condition of their employment and is available to anyone who desires to become credentialed in CPR/AED and first aid. This class is taught with the use of video aids and verbal instruction. AHA Student Work book is required.

The following type of professionals may need this course:  Teacher, Coach, Camp Counselor, Personal Trainer, Baby Sitter, Caregiver, Security Guard, Construction Worker, Day Care Employee, Foster Parents, or anyone needing to add first aid to their CPR/AED certification.


In this course you will learn:

  1. Recognizing breathing problems, chest pain as it relates to a heart attack, fainting, diabetes, stroke, and seizures.

  2. Realizing the signs and symptoms of an airway obstruction and the proper dislodging methods.

  3. Review the first aid steps for injury emergencies.

  4. How to provide emergency assistance to a victim suffering from bleeding,
    mouth injuries, shock, broken bones, sprains, bruises, burns, bites and stings,
    temperature-related emergencies, and poison contact or ingestion.

  5. Understanding the first aid steps for environmental emergencies.

  6. Using and proper disposal of an epinephrine pen and the proper protection, and disposal methods to prevent against contamination again blood borne pathogens.

  7. Single person CPR to one adult, child, and infant victim (CPR manikins will be used as the victims).

  8. Realizing the signs and symptoms of an airway obstruction and the proper dislodging methods.

  9. Proper use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) machine.

  10. Identifying the early warning signs of cardiac arrest and stroke.


Class length is approximately 5-6 hours in duration and a short break is scheduled .


You must pass a skills evaluation on a manikin.


This course meets the requirements for adult, child and infant first aid, as outlined by the 2015 AHA guideline.

Certification is valid for 2 years.
